Watching the NDP reminds me of my participation a few years back. I daresay it wasn't a big role, but I'm proud to have played my part. (Oh, I am patriotic!) There is a strong surge of nostalgia in my head, especially after hearing all the familiar marching tunes. Aaawww, I miss those training days.
The commanders and ICs always said that we, Guides, were the worst squad out of the whole contingent. Haha, thinking back, I thought we did okay! Nonetheless, I think we were fortunate 'cause we need not march and jog into the stadium like this year's. (Looks kinda, HmMmmM...)
Everyone had to endure the long period of standing that seemed like forever. Now, I sympathized with those people standing at attention while the crowd continued singing and cheering. It's what I call
zek ark, LOL.
It was truly HELL for me that time. I often prayed the parade commander would ask for permission to march-pass the parade asap. And that year being the SARS year, there was this long speech and video clip. Zzz!

Oh man, it's making me miss guiding! The blue uniform, yellow scarf (Left over right, right over left :P), the belt and my shiny badges and boots! I miss using kiwi on Friday nights; drill sessions under the hot sun; outdoor cooking and gadgets making; camps and campfires!
Be Prepared. (Duh.)
The day has ended.
